Work Place Organization
Work place organization is the combination of Standrat work, 5S and Visual management. It is the basics of lean transformation. Without this component, it is not possible to built the future.
Standard Work is a combination of humans and machines carrying out operations in an efficient and consistent way. The purpose of standard work is to:
- Make operating rules explicit
- Use it as a tool for Kaizen events
- Enable sharing of Best Practices by ensuring one solution can be applied everywhere.
5S,
- Simplify or Sort (seiri) – needed vs. unneeded items (Remove unnecessary items from the workplace)
- Straighten or Set (seiton) – keep in correct place.( Locate everything at the point of use)
- Scrub or Shine (seiso) – keep clean and tidy.( Clean and eliminate the sources of filth)
- Stabilize or Standardize (seiketsu) – use standard methods.( Make routine and standard for what good looks like)
- Sustain or Self-Discipline (shitsuke) – do not fall back to old way of doing things.( Sustain by making 5S second nature)
